Le petit Marteau is part of a 17 th century courtyard farmhouse, built entirely of natural stone. Renovations in the main farmhouse started in 2002 as a personal project. The beautiful interiors are a creation of the owner - a well-respected interior design architect who runs a successful business in Antwerp – and he regards the creation of Le Petit Marteau as the “icing on the cake”- country living with a modern, luxurious twist.

The construction of the holiday home took place in 2019/2020 and the utmost attention was given, not only to the furnishings but to renovate in an ecological and sustainable manner. The insulation of the house consists entirely of hemp blocks and offers not only excellent thermal and acoustic insulation but moisture regulation as well. The walls and ceilings have been finished with a layer of loam. Both of these materials have a low ecological footprint and a traditional feel, preserving the historic character of the farm. The indoor climate is regulated by a central ventilation system, creating thermal comfort and heat conservation. An underfloor heating system is installed throughout the house.

Le petit Marteau is located in Hamerenne, a hamlet just outside the town of Rochefort. It is also where it gets its name from. You can recognise the word hammer in the name, which translated into French, becomes marteau. Le petit Marteau is a wordplay on the two main languages in our country.

Our holdiay home can accommodate up to 14 people. There are 7 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The large living room has a fireplace and there is a spacious kitchen. Our guests can enjoy a wonderful sun-terrace and lovely private garden, with access to the rest of the estate. In summer, the private heated pool is available on request.

During the week, subject to availability, individual rooms can be rented up to a maximum occupancy of six people. All the amenities will stay accessible and will be shared with the other guests, only the large living room will be closed. This package offers the option of ordering breakfast and/or dinner from a local caterer.

Le petit Marteau is perfect for a relaxing getaway with family or friends. Thanks to its location it is the ideal starting point for beautiful hikes and cycling tours or day-trips to the many sights the area has to offer. It is also well suited to hosting groups or small businesses looking to organise incentives or team-building activities. The exhibition centre WEX in Marche-en-Famenne is just 15 km away, which allows you to combine business with the pleasure of a relaxing stay in the middle of nature.
